We now live in a world where we are bombarded with information that we have not specifically asked for, and for the most part may not want... Telesales calls, windscreen flyers, market research studies, promotional text messages, spam e-mail, etc. However, in these more spiritually liberated times, there are many people with metaphysical talents and psychic gifts who are pleased to admit to this - but others, just cannot resist proclaiming it wholesale. Frequently, someone with a gifted ability encounters another person for the first time, and if circumstances permit, they not only take the first opportunity to weave into the conversation the nature of their gifted ability, but also find it necessary to exhibit it - offering an uninvited reading or observance for the other person. This then, is Psychic Spam. This overzealous attitude can also manifest itself in similar ways with some people who have talents for metaphysical healing. Incidentally, it seems more often these days that one encounters people who proclaim they are not just a Witch - but an hereditary Witch. Whilst no one is questioning for one minute that hereditary Witches exist, one notes that seldom do you find someone proclaiming to be an hereditary Christian or Jew, for example. The wisdom here is this: If you excel at something, it is far better to have it proclaimed by others - than it is to be self proclaimed.
The Gathering Of Sherwood makes no claim to have extraordinary or metaphysical abilities which are not readily available to anyone and everyone who cares to learn and master them. The Woodwitch tradition maintains five craft skills which are a distinct asset to have at one’s disposal, but are not restricted to just certain individuals - Witch or not, hereditary or not. They are skills which anyone can master with time, patience and practice. All Woodwitches train in these skills at some time or other during their path to accomplishment. Having mastered them in the sense that a Woodwitch is accomplished at them, we would not entertain the notion of suggesting we are masters of something. Wisdom often comes from experience, and experience is usually something that just quietly grows... It is wiser to be able to accomplish more than you claim - rather than to claim more than you can actually accomplish. >>>>>>RETURN TO INDEX PAGE.
